Folks around Olympia know Jeff Trinin because of his community activities. He has served on various boards and committees over the years, but he is also a local business owner.
After Trinin moved to Olympia in 1981, he opened Always Safe & Lock. He originally ran his business from his home, but eventually moved to a downtown building. Currently his business has 3,000 square feet including a showroom that not only shows various products, but also displays some historic treasures: a collection of antique locks and keys he has accumulated through the years.
Being a locksmith runs in his blood. Trinin is a fourth generation locksmith. He works with his current partner and son-in-law, Timothy Sommerville. Their partnership will celebrate 10 years next February.
Always Safe & Lock is a full service locksmith working with both residential and commercial customers. The trend in their business now is towards electronic products including security systems and video surveillance systems.
While keeping up with the latest technology, they also have to be able to work with older equipment. One of their current projects is restoring an old bank vault in a building that was constructed in 1918.
