Stolen Locksmith Equipment Found

The Fresno Police were able to retrieve $60,000 in locksmith tools that had been stolen. The stolen equipment was found in Central Fresno in a house located at Cambridge and Effie.

The equipment was stolen, along with the locksmith’s van, a few weeks ago. The van was found just a few hours after the theft, but it had been emptied of its contents. The police were searching the home of a person currently on probation. It was there that they found the stolen goods. The stolen equipment included 150 keys, a laser key-making machine and 34 locks.

“These keys can be made in less than 5 minutes; all somebody’s going to need is your VIN number from your vehicle, they type in your code for whatever style of vehicle it is, and boom a key is made for your car door, as well as the ignition,” said Johnny Fisher, CHP spokesperson.

The missing equipment could be used to make keys for everything from high end BMWs and Land Rovers to Toyotas and Hondas.

Two people have been arrested in relation to this case. The locksmith was particularly thankful to receive the retrieved equipment since he had recently lost some other property in a warehouse fire.
